Luxury Berlin hotels

Berlin is a vibrant, modern European city, which has so much more to offer than its history.  Its nightlife is second to none, with many world-renowned clubs and upmarket restaurants to be discovered. There is also a great selection of five-star luxury hotels in Berlin, making it the perfect location for a special trip.  Here are a few suggestions to get you started.

The Ritz-Carlton Berlin
Potsdamer Platz 3, 10785 Berlin

This is a city centre 5 star hotel.  It has 303 guest rooms including 40 suites.  They are designed with luxury fabrics like featherbeds and marble bathrooms and decorated with original watercolours by the German artist Markus Luepertz.  Of course, they have all mod cons like satellite TV, internet access and movies.  There’s a French Brasserie restaurant in the hotel and a tea lounge, as well as a bar.  The spa has a Jacuzzi, sauna and swimming pool as well as a full range of pampering treatments on offer.

The Regent Berlin
Charlottenstraße 49, 10117 Berlin

This luxury hotel is in the central Mitte district of Berlin.  Its restaurant, Fischers Fritz has the distinction of being the only two star Michelin restaurant in Berlin.  There are 156 guest rooms and suites, with views of the historic Gendermenmakt square or the hotel’s inner courtyard.  Some have Viennese crystal chandeliers and European antiques.  The suites are fitted with marble bathrooms, separate sitting rooms and high tech Bose entertainment systems.  The hotel has a spa and health club offering separate men’s and ladies’ saunas, massages and beauty treatments.

Hotel de Rome
Behrenstrasse 37 10117 Berlin

This 5 star hotel is in a former bank headquarters that dates back to 1887.  It has many impressive original features such as marble pillars, stucco ceilings and wooden panelling.  There are 146 guest rooms and suites, all with flat screen TV and some with DVD player and iPod docking station.  The most luxurious is the Bebel suite, created in the former offices of the bank directors.  It has lofty 5 metre ceilings and a balcony overlooking the Bebelplatz, the square on the south side of the city’s famous thoroughfare, Unter den Linden.  The hotel restaurant has a picturesque courtyard terrace and there is a dramatically-lit spa in the former jewel vaults under the ground.
